A cold December day at the Marine Lake West Kirby. I went there to photograph Mergansers but there were none around. I just could not resist recording the Sailing Boats. I have removed the wall of the Marine Lake in the manipulation software to give the boats "more space". EOS 5D Mark 2 & Canon 180mm Macro.

This shot was taken by remote control using a PHOTTIX HERO system. Additionally I mounted the camera and lens on a remotely controlled pan/tilt head. While the bird came repeatedly to a strategically placed apple, I was in a nearby office taking the pictures via a video link to the camera. EOS 30D & Sigma 70-300mm DL lens.

It is quite wrong to show pictures taken on "high end", expensive gear when I hold classes and workshops. I do emphasize that good shots can be obtained with low spec equipment as long as you have the right photographic technique. This picture was taken at West Kirby Marine Lake at high tide when the waders come to roost on rocks close to the footpath.I was standing behind a wall with the camera supported by a folded woolly hat in lieu of a beanbag.
